SLCAA Issues the First-ever Aerodrome Certificate to FNA

The Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (SLCAA) through the Ministry of Transport and Aviation on Thursday 30th May 2023, issued the first-ever Aerodrome Certificate to the Freetown International Airport (FNA) after the successful completion of an in-depth Aerodrome Certification Process.

It could be noted that on 10th October 2022, SUMMA Airports (SL) Ltd. expressed interest in writing to the SLCAA for the certification of FNA. 

During the certification process, the SLCAA Certification Team conducted technical inspections and on-site verifications of the aerodrome’s facilities, equipment, design, and other operational procedures, including their safety management system in making sure that SUMMA Airports (SL) Ltd is in compliance with the relevant International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs), and other applicable provisions.

The Official presentation of the aerodrome certificate will be done by His Excellency the President, Brig. (Rtd.) Dr. Julius Maada Bio.

His Excellency the President made a manifesto promise of making Sierra Leone a competitive touristic destination that is safe, reliable, efficient, affordable, and a hub for aviation activities within the sub-region.
