MTA Organises Performance Delivery Retreat for Transport Sector

The Ministry of Transport and Aviation (MTA) in its effort to offer better services to the public has organised a four-day performance delivery retreat on the theme: “Building effective transportation systems for sustainable socio-economic growth”, for agencies under its supervision.
The purpose of the retreat was to provide a reflection on the Ministry and its Agencies’ achievements and identify how opportunities could be maximized to deliver better services to the general public.
Welcoming the delegates, the MTA Senior Permanent Secretary, AL-Hassan Kharamoh Kondeh called on all agencies to be attentive and bring out solutions to addressing the challenges faced as the ministry is reflecting on its service delivery to the public.
The PS revealed that this year’s retreat will encourage the power of positive thinking and behavioural change.
Making his keynote address the Minister of Transport and Aviation, Hon. Kabineh M. Kallon, reminded all that the ministry provides policies and guidance for all agencies under its supervision.
“This is a retreat, similar to the one we had in 2020 but with a significant difference. This time, around we are here to map our path into the unknown. Our strategic plan will ensure we can track progress based on our strategic goals. It will also help us to determine how far we have come, and if our activities remained aligned with our objectives”, he said.
The Minister further acknowledged that inspite of the daunting challenges faced, the ministry has however achieved some big successes in the last four years. He thanked all on behalf of the ministry for attending while hoped for a successful deliberation.
The mandate of the Ministry is to develop policies and provide effective and efficient oversight over agencies under its supervision for the delivery of safe, reliable, resilient, affordable, and sustainable maritime, land, and aviation transportation throughout the country.
Agencies under the supervision of the Ministry comprised the following: Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (SLCAA), Sierra Leone Airports Authority (SLAA), Sierra Leone Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation Bureau (SL-AAIB), Sierra Leone Maritime Administration (SLMA), Sierra Leone Ports Authority (SLPA), Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA), Sierra Leone National Shipping Agency (SLNPA), Sierra Leone Road Transport Corporation (SLRTC).
